A dedicated group of neonatologists and surgeons stand ready to provide immediate treatment for babies born with CDH. Learn more: http://www.chop.edu/cdh Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) is a complex and challenging anomaly in which attention to every tiny detail is crucial to achieving the best outcomes. Experts from the Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, including Mark Johnson, MD, Holly Hedrick, MD, and Scott Adzick, MD, explain the range of care that takes place immediately after a baby with CDH is delivered in the Garbose Family Special Delivery Unit. The health of a baby born with CDH can change unexpectedly, making it critically important to deliver within a hospital where specialized postnatal care is immediately available. After delivery in our Special Delivery Unit, babies with CDH are passed immediately to our Neonatal Surgical Team — including neonatologists, surgical advanced practice nurses, neonatal and surgical fellows, neonatal surgical nurses, and respiratory therapists — which is waiting to stabilize your baby and provide any breathing assistance needed before bringing him to the N/IICU for further care.
