A Midnight Hymn

I was up at two in the morning last night. I couldn't sleep. Feeling too much about the dark state of our world. I don't like weighing in on current events very often. There's something strange about people constantly telling the world what they think about everything that's going on. The truth is, I was devastated by Charlie Kirk's assassination. I didn't know very much about him. I had only seen a couple short clips here and there over the years. But when I heard the news... I was filled with shock... anger... and sorrow. I don't have the words to express any of this. This tragedy was not political for me. It was human. And it was spiritual. I have since watched many clips of his debates and speeches. He was a man who fought for what he believed in with sincerity, humility, wisdom and a genuine love for people. More than anything, it was his love for Christ that gave him strength and courage. This song is a lament and a prayer, for our world and for Charlie's beloved wife and two precious children. It is sent with love into the atmosphere for someone who may need to hear it right now. This song came out in the silence and in the darkness. I wrote it last night and recorded it today. It is what it is and it's what's I'm going through right now... Forgive me a sinner. Much love.
