When it comes to cove lighting in home renovation, there are essentially 2 methods to do it. Either false ceiling, or L box. The problem with false ceiling is that it typically requires at least an 8cm drop, and that will reduce the height of the ceiling, making your house look smaller For L box, you will still be reducing the ceiling height on the sides, and depending on the width of your L box, the dimensions of your cove light may end up to be very small as well. So this is not idea for small houses like ours. For both the false ceiling and L box, another common problem is trapping of dust. Because there is a horizontal ledge, you may have to climb up the ladder to clean it every once in a while. In terms of cost, both false ceiling and L box are not cheap as well, costing upwards of a thousand dollars or more.
