Our R&D project is to perform a side by side trial of living soil vs salt based nutrients. After harvest, we will send samples to a health Canada approved lab such as A&L Laboratories, where cannabinoid and terpene levels of the flower, bubble hash and live rosin will be analyzed. For a soil base we are using an organic veggie blend of black loam, peat moss, manure and mushroom compost. Right now the loader is adding and mixing bran, alfalfa, brown egg layer and worm castings which will feed the microbes while the perlite and vermiculite further condition the soil. We will let the soil "cookoff" for a few weeks, then inoculate it with some IMO before transplanting in July. What's most exciting is that we will get to quantify and qualify medicinal profiles and concentrations of the same cultivar using two different growing methods. The cultivation will be at the facility of a Licensed Producer in Ontario, Canada. There is a great benefit in having definite data on hash yields when comparing cannabis grown in living soil vs using salt based nutrients. An agronomist friend mentioned that cannabis grown using living soil exhibit trichome heads where the cuticles are thicker resulting in losing less of the contents (cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, etc) to evaporation. With this side by side trial we will also get a chance to confirm the difference in the cuticle thickness. The goal here is to cultivate high amounts of quality trichomes instead of growing for the biggest yields of flower. Let's put it to the test. Shout out to AmpedOrganics for sharing knowledge and providing the organic nutrient inputs. This video was taken in Spring 2022. #livingsoil #cannabiscommunity
