A historical film on the South African Air force in the 1960's showcasing aircraft that are seldom seen today, classical warbirds like the De Havilland Vampire and Avro Shackelton. Actors and pilots - Willie van der Lingen and Toby Adelaar My connection with aviation from this period is Flippi Looch and Charlie Wroth whom I have known for many years. At the age of 6 I had my first flight in a DC3 around the Southern Cape Coast and at the age of 10 or there about's watching my first Mirage go mach plus and of course the sound of a Shackleton overhead was something every young boy remembers. Little did I know 8 years later I would have 4 Mirages and 13 Impala's (Bat's) at my beck and call and who can forget landing in a Flossie at a border base and the sound of the 20mm on the Alouette... we all met some amazing people in those days and who can ever forget Soutie on Alo's or Charlie Bent...we are indeed lucky to have had them in our lives. Today I appreciate the professionalism of my comrades in arms...I was indeed fortunate. I archive old film and have been collecting films for over 30 years. Existing libraries are rotting in city libraries and being dumped regularly and we rescue them as soon as possible.
