Turkey: Black Sea to Aegean Coast - When things start to break // Overland series ep.5

In this episode we leave Istanbul to Turkeys Black Sea coast, waiting for our Iranian Visas and repairing the defender. Before we continue to the Aegean Coast. During the first stop at the Black Sea, we manage to repair our leaking tank. It is just a matter of time until a Land Rover needs a repair. After attempting to clean the littered beach, we headed back to the city, to go to the Iranian Consulate in Istanbul. We slept in parking in the city center. Took the Bosporus ferry to cross from the Asien Side to Sultanahmet where the Consulate is located. We left Istanbul with Iranian Visas in our pockets towards Bursa, crossed the Osmangazi (Köprüsü) Bridge, and camped on Mt. Uludag. The next day we drove through Balikesir to stay a couple of days a both Akhisar in the region of Manisa. Our goal was to reach the coast of Izmir and the Turkish Riviera. We decided against going to Ephesus, but therefore visited the Greek ruins of Magnesia which contain a huge station, a Theater (Tiyatro), and Agora. Eventually, we made it to Didim where we saw the Temple of Apollo (Apollon Tapinagi), aside I visited 30 years ago as a kid. The temples are all in really good condition compared to what you can see e.g., in Olympia, Greece. In the next episode, we follow the Turquoise Coast (Aegean Coast) to Antalya.
