Update, Jan 2018: In the spirit of the incredible femi-Nine nrg that abounds as we move into a new era, I dedicate this track to humanity, to relationships, to love, to equality, True Equality... to authenticity and being true to and knowing ourselves... to creating and leaving a legacy on this planet - the true definition of 'eternal life'... #MeToo "An acquaintance and I decided to set 7 Maya Angelou poems to music in June of 1996. We booked into a studio for a week and produced a piece of work entitled 'The Maya Angelou Project'. The work is copyrighted, but as yet unpublished. It is an homage to the brilliance and lyrical artistry of Dr. Angelou. No infringement to the copyright of her poems are intended. I met with a member of her staff many years ago and gave a copy of the CD to her, in the hope that it would reach Ms Angelou, but that was many moons ago and I don't know if she ever heard it. I hope she sees this now." All vocals, harmonies and melodies were sung and arranged by Ms Ella-Ruth. All instruments and mixing by Mr Trimble. I know it is drum-heavy, but he is a drummer so it was bound to happen that way. The iMovie is Ms Ella-Ruth's first foray into making a video. Enjoy. The fusing of Ms Ella-Ruth's image with Ms Angelou's may be seen as a little indulgent, but simply stated - she loves her. This video is also dedicated to the memory of Mr Loran Hector, who left this sphere to continue his journey in the next dimension on 21st June 2013. ..............................*UPDATE*............................... I originally turned 7 of Dr Angelou's poems to music, with the expressed wish to one day meet her and talk with her. It broke my heart to see how she aged so much over the last few years, though still, no doubt, sharp of mind. This morning, 28/5/14, Dr Maya Angelou passed from this realm to meet the Ankh-cestors. It certainly makes this track, and Turned To Blue, all the more poignant. I dedicate these to her Divine Lyricality and Creative Spirit. Her words certainly touched a lot of people. May her onward journey be as brilliant and as fruitful as this one. Jaye Ella-Ruth.x
