La Canción del Soñador or The Dreamer's Song is a Pasillo (like a Colombian waltz) and is the first movement of Suite Colombiana No. 3 original for solo guitar by the great Colombian composer, Gentil Montaña (1942-2011). Actually it was made for trío típico first and then Montaña arranged it for solo guitar. Home made recording. No edited, no cuts. Tiple version here made by Lucas Saboya who is playing the tiple. José Antonio Escobar, guitar About the musicians: LUCAS SABOYA. Colombian composer and “tiple” player, he was born in 1980 in Tunja - Boyacá. He began his studies at "Escuela Superior de música de Tunja" (Superior Music School of Tunja) at the same time he started approaching the tradition of the Andean music of his country playing the Tiple (traditional Colombian instrument). In 1995 he founded along his brothers Daniel Saboya (Guitar) and Diego Saboya (Bandola) the music trio “Palos y Cuerdas” (typical music format of the Colombian Andes region). In this trio he begins to approach composition with a language based on traditional Colombian music. Later he studied composition with Gustavo Parra. Lucas’ music is framed in a style described by Eliecer Arenas Monsalve (Colombian musicologist) as "Artistic Music coming from Popular Tradition." His compositions have been recorded and performed by musicians such as Mike Marshall U.S. , Caterina Lichtenberg Germany, Alexis Cárdenas and Manuel Rojas from Venezuela, José Antonio Escobar and Camilo Sauvalle from Chile, Trio Nueva Colombia, among others. As a soloist and with "Palos y Cuerdas" he has performed in major concert halls and important stages in Holland, France, England, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Argentina and Venezuela. He has been soloist with orchestras such as the City of London Sinfonia in London, Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá, Symphonic Orchestra of Tolima (Colombia) and “Batuta” Symphonic Orchestra of Medellin (Colombia), premiering concert works for Tiple. Lucas has worked with conductors such as Andrés Orozco, Adrian Chamorro, Ricardo Jaramillo and Sergio Sanchez. He belongs to the project “Baroque Orchestra” of the Young Philharmonic Orchestra of Colombia. Recently he received along with his brothers “Palos y Cuerdas” The “National Music prize for Records Production” Awarded by the Ministry of Culture of Colombia, thanks to the latest Palos y Cuerdas record: “PALOS Y CUERDAS LA MÚSICA DE AGUSTÍN BARRIOS, ANTONIO LAURO Y GENTIL MONTAÑA”. He is part of the new trends in composition of Colombian and Latin American Andean music; He has a bachelor degree in Music from “Universidad Pedagógica Nacional” in the "Colombia Creativa" program. Currently he is working on guitar compositions and he is a professor at “Universidad Pedagógica y tecnológica de Colombia”. Website: http://palosycuerdas.com/lucas-saboya... JOSÉ ANTONIO ESCOBAR is one of the most distinguished and versatile classical guitar soloists of his generation. He is especially remarkable in his perfect balance between intense musical expression and a vast knowledge of various musical styles and periods. He was born in Santiago de Chile, where he graduated with Top Honours after studying at the Conservatory of Music, University of Chile. Immediately after graduating he continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Augsburg, Germany. Under the influence of his first master, the lutenist Ernesto Quezada, he became deeply interested in early instruments from the guitar family. This motivated him to complete his studies by attending Early Music courses and master-classes with renowned specialists such as Hopkinson Smith, Eduardo Egüez, and Juan Carlos Rivera. He combines his interest in early music with the contemporary, with particular attention to Chilean composers. He has been awarded some fifteen prizes in leading international guitar competition, including the Francisco Tárrega (Spain), Alessandria (Italy), Alhambra (Spain), Guitar Foundation of America (USA), Julian Arcas (Spain), and Karl Sheit (Austria), among many others.
