This is a tour of structures involved with Dupuytren disease. Dupuytren disease often begins in and around a series of sheets and threads of tissue called fascia. These structures connect at right angles inside the palm to form a 3-dimensional scaffolding which flexibly anchors the palmar skin to the bones in the hand. These thin layers are not well seen with CT or MRI and their relationships are disrupted by surgical dissection.
