Silent cine film of a railtrip from London to Barnstaple via Salisbury and Yeovil Junction on Sunday 6th June 1976. Having boarded our excursion train at Clapham Junction we join the film as we wait for clearance onto the Southern main line at Wimbledon as a London Underground District Line service passes. We then travel via Salisbury and Yeovil to Exeter Central and then St David's where there is a locomotive change from Class 47 to 2 x Class 25. We turn onto the Barnstaple branch at Cowley Bridge junction and pass theough Crediton, just after which the line to Okehampton diverges on the left. On the approach to Barnstaple we see the bridge that carried the connecting line to the GWR's Barnstaple line and station. As we leave the ex-Southern station on a coach tour we see that the rail bridge to the former Barnstaple Town station was still in place. We also see Chelfham viaduct on the former Lynton and Barnstaple railway. The cine film ends as our train leaves Barnstaple for the return journey.
