Tokarnia - The Magic of the Low Beskids We begin our adventure on a picturesque trail to Tokarnia in the Low Beskids, stopping for the night at a charming parking spot in the village of Kulaszne. Here, surrounded by nearby peaks, we experience an extraordinary sunset painting the sky with hues like a masterpiece. Kulaszne, formerly known as Międzygórze, is a historically rich village dating back to 1538 when the settlement was founded under the Wallachian law. Located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, in the Sanok County, in the Komańcza commune, Kulaszne enchants not only with its nature but also with its rich history. In the 17th century, it was part of the Sanok starosty, and in 1765, King Stanisław August Poniatowski gifted the Kulaszne estate to Mikołaj Mrozowicki, the starost of Stęgwil. Over the centuries, the village underwent administrative changes, becoming part of various districts and counties. During the interwar period, Kulaszne was within the Republic of Komańcza, and after World War II, its demographic structure changed due to the resettlement of Ukrainian and Rusyn populations. However, in the 1960s, some of the displaced people returned to their native lands. Today, Kulaszne is not only a witness to the past but also a beautiful balcony overlooking the Low Beskids. Starting our wild camper journey through Poland, we discover the charms of this picturesque region. The Low Beskids, often referred to as the center of ambitious tourism, captivates not only with stunning views but also with a rich network of hiking trails winding through forests, meadows, and mountain streams. We invite you to explore the magical landscapes of the Low Beskids, starting from the charming village of Kulaszne and continuing our journey among mountain trails, where history meets nature, creating unforgettable memories. Continuing on our journey, we went to Wola Piotrowa, from where we set off to conquer more wonders of this region. One of our stops was the majestic peak of Tokarnia (778 m a.s.l.), located in the Bukowica Range. From the summit, there is a vast view to the north towards the Bukowskie Foothills, while the southeastern horizon features the Bieszczady Mountains, and on a clear day, you can even see the Tatra Mountains. Tokarnia has two summits, one of which is a forested eastern peak, formerly known as Wierch Mendla. The main summit is characterized by a cell tower, while northwest of it, there is a shelter, providing a comfortable resting place for weary hikers. The peak of Tokarnia was originally known as Magura, but later the name Tokarnia was assigned to one of the nearby villages, which was a common practice at the time. During World War I and II, this area was the site of heavy fighting. While exploring the Low Beskids, one cannot forget about the wonderful hiking trails that traverse these magical lands. The red trail from Puławy – Tokarnia (778 m a.s.l.) – Przybyszów – Kamień (717 m a.s.l.) – Komańcza (Main Beskid Trail) and the yellow trail from Kanasiówka (823 m a.s.l.) – Wisłok Wielki – Tokarnia (778 m a.s.l.) are just some of the many options that the Low Beskids offers, inviting you to an unforgettable adventure in the heart of Polish mountains.
