Both of these statements are true: SVRO has classic lines framed by beautiful teak. SVRO has way more teak than we'd like. Exterior teak on a boat is a conundrum. No doubt it is classy looking and beautiful. No doubt it's a pain in the butt to take care of. It's a never ending cycle of sanding, cleaning, sealing or varnishing. Unless you don't mind it turning gray and deteriorating. Right now we're still of a mind to keep it sealed as best we can without using varnish. Yes, varnish is gorgeous on teak that is smooth and in good shape. Our teak is not in that condition. It has a lot of checks and gouges, some stains and cracks. Varnish would really highlight all of it's faults. Instead, we've been using Star Brite Teak Sealer. It's the easiest we've found to apply with nearly zero prep except cleaning the teak. And if we're diligent (which we're not) even the cleaning needed is minimal. 00:00 Intro 00:47 Cleaning teak hatches 04:07 Using Total Boat Epoxy 05:40 Using Total Boat Lust varnish 07:41 Using Star Brite Teak Cleaner 10:38 Using Snappy Teak Cleaners 13:06 Using Star Brite Teak Sealer More details on the blog https://www.svrambleon.com Social Stuff / svrambleon / sv_rambleon All music by Artlist Opening Music: A Good Mood by the Young Rich Pixies Paw Prints by Bob Hart All Good Things by Campagna Live in the Moment by Wearethegood ——————————————————————————————————— I’m Jeni and he’s Rich. We’re really just a couple of average Joes. In a nutshell we met and married in our early 20s; I graduated from college in my late 20s; adopted two cats and a dog in the late 90s; sold a house and bought a new house in our mid 30s; then sold the new house and moved onto a sailboat in our early 40s. In between all that we had a bunch of fun like camping, scuba diving, watching hockey games (Go Red Wings!), concerts, traveling, spear fishing, restoring a 1963 Chevy II Nova; spending time with family and friends. A few years ago we decided to lay off all the fun-having to fix up this old boat. We figure if we put our noses to the grindstone for a few years, we’ll be able to travel for a few years and do all the fun things we’ve missed.
