Large Professor recounted the lead up to Nas dropping Illmatic from signing his deal to recording with some of the most legendary producers to the album title itself. Large Professor, who acted as de facto executive producer said he knew the album was a classic but that wasn't reflected in album sales early on because the project was bootlegged. He said he thinks it was an inside job because people had the actual demo from the record company.
