An iconic piece from the legendary Brazilian trio comprising the late José Roberto Bertrami (keyboards), Alex Malheiros (bass), and Ivan 'Mamão' Conti (drums), taken from 1979 album Light As A Feather. There are lots of ways to play this song as evidenced by the many different versions out there, most famously by Airto Moreira and Flora Purim. Indeed as far as I can tell, Azymuth themselves never seemed to play it the same way twice! I have been meaning to do a verbatim transcription of this particular version for a long time because I've always been fascinated by Alex Malheiros' unusual, almost idiosyncratic style of playing on it. One of the most striking things is his extraordinary sound which I have tried to emulate, messing around with eq. settings, reverb, and phaser. Transcribing this piece made me realise that a great many of the notes are implied but not actually played. Once again, it's all about space. N.B. This is a video only transcription. I have no charts or tab but I hope it's in some way helpful nevertheless. The bass: Fender Precision, 1970 Thanks for watching. Please like, subscribe, and click the bell if you enjoy my videos. Blessings to all.
