Buckhorn Draw, The Wedge, and Utah's Grand Canyon

The Buckhorn Draw is a scenic canyon and popular recreational area in Utah's San Rafael Swell, known for its stunning geology, rich history (including Barrier Canyon style rock art), and a winding dirt road (Buckhorn Wash Road) that offers primitive camping, hiking, off-roading, and glimpses of dinosaur tracks and old CCC-era structures, making it a significant part of Utah's Scenic Backways system. We enjoyed being able to see, close up, ancient pictographs. We also loved the wild burros! If you go...this is a stretch of dirt road (well maintained but still bumpy) that takes you through a canyon. At the end of the road, one should take a couple of turns and head for "The Wedge" (be sure to download GPS directions... there will be no signal). The road will take you up on top of the very canyon you drove through on the Buckhorn Wash Road. The Wedge is a rock formation that juts out over the canyon and from it you have an incredible view. We enjoyed our day here and wouldn't mind going back to perhaps camp in one of the many campsites.
