To get good virtual production results you may need to calibrate your camera lens to remove distortion, the curving of lines that should be straight. The process gives you an accurate field-of-view and focal length for your lens too, this helps setting up the virtual camera. This tutorial shows how. There are many programs for lens calibration, here I used REtracker Calibrator from Rassi Engineering. They have offered to give out a limited number of copies of this calibrator for free, just "like" the Rassi Engineering facebook page and then request the calibrator from them through facebook messenger and mention "GregGiveaway" / rassiengineering Video index 0:00 Distortion, what it looks like and why you don't want it 1:34 Checking for distortion, use a plumb bob 2:29 How lens calibrators work 2:59 RETracker Camera Calibrator free! 3:40 Getting good calibration results 5:04 Camera settings for calibration 6:14 Use video to collect images 7:31 Use VLC to save clear images from the video 8:04 Running RETracker Camera Calibrator on the images 10:47 Entering distortion numbers into Unreal 13:38 Results 14:13 Setup Unreal camera FOV/Focal Length to match Latest Release of my VPStudio sample project: https://github.com/MiloMindbender/UE4... Microphone stand with boom (what the shirt is hanging on) makes a nice target for tuning chroma key and holds microphones too. Boom may sag a bit if mic is too heavy, putting a bit of friction tape in the hinge will fix it. https://amzn.to/36j4YAs "C" stand (silver thing on right) for holding up lights, curtains and stuff. Heavy duty and very solid, takes up less space on floor than tripod stands. Frequently on sale for less. There are some "kits" that include tripod stands and lights but I don't recommend them. The stands that come in these kits usually take up more floorspace and are no where near as sturdy as the 3rd hand poles I've used. The larger the green screen the more freedom you will have to move the camera around, so get the biggest one you have space for. #virtualproduction #unrealengine #cameracalibration
