Five Palestinian gunmen have been slain by Israel in the West Bank in the last two days. The two dead militants, who were killed on Friday, were from the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, a group loosely affiliated with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement, witnesses said. Later on Friday the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades threatened to renew attacks on Israelis after the killing of the two gunmen. The fighting, part of a week-long Israeli offensive in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, came a day after Palestinian authorities began enforcing a ban on public displays of weapons in a key step toward imposing order in the Gaza Strip. Israel launched the wave of air strikes and raids last weekend in response to Gaza militants' rocket attacks on southern Israel. Hamas had launched its rockets in response to an explosion at its rally in Gaza last Friday that killed 21 people. Israel denied involvement. Israeli officials said they wanted to show militants that Israel would not tolerate any attacks from Gaza in the wake of its pullout from the region earlier this month. Also in Nablus on Friday, Israeli troops shot dead a Palestinian teenager as he threw stones at an army patrol, local hospital officials said. They said 13-year-old Said Tantawi was shot during a clash in the city's Askar refugee camp. Israeli military officials said a routine patrol in the camp came under fire and troops shot back. They had no further details. Meanwhile in Netzarim, in the Gaza Strip, hundreds of Palestinian children marched to mark five years of violent conflict with Israel, but in a break with custom the youngsters and their adult minders only waved flags, not guns. The rally, organised by the Islamic Jihad group in memory of Gaza children killed in the fighting, was held a day after Palestinian police began enforcing a ban on displaying weapons in public. In the past, large groups of gunmen had routinely led rallies of militant groups, and children participating would sometimes be given toy guns or be dressed in military fatigues. On Friday, some 300 children waved the black banners of Islamic Jihad and wore white T-shirts with the inscription "Our martyrs are candles that won't go out." A song mentioning some of those killed by name was played over loudspeakers. The rally was held near the former Jewish settlement of Netzarim in central Gaza, where 12-year old Mohammed Aldura, was killed exactly five years ago in a crossfire between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers.
