Non healing ulcers are because of a variety of factors. Most commonly it is because of the deficient nutrition or deficient blood supply coming to the leg. Either it could be a diabetic reason or blocks in the arteries or narrowing of arteries or varicose veins known as venous ulcer. In each case when you come to the diagnosis we can treat the ulcer specifically. In case it is a purely diabetic ulcer but if there is any arterial component in that it has to be treated simultaneously. The artery has to be revascularised by doing an angioplasty or a bypass. At the same time the diabetic foot has to be debrided. All the diabetic or necrosed tissue has to be taken out and allow the ulcer to heal. If the patient comes with a chronic ulcer or a venous ulcer at the same time of ulcer debridement patient might need a skin grafting to close the ulcer and the patient has got symptomatic varicose veins with perforator incompetence we treat the varicose veins at the same sitting.
