International Yeats Society Conference 2024: Conjuring Yeats - December, 9

Annual since the creation of the International Yeats Society (IYS) in 2015, the IYS Conferences and Symposia are specialized events dedicated to showcasing academic research from around the world about the work, life, context, and reception of the Irish writer W. B. Yeats (1865-1939). The IYS Conferences are itinerant, and have already taken place in three different continents: North America, Europe, and Asia. This year, the Conference comes to South America for the first time. As a theme for the 2024 Conference, Yeats comes to Ouro Preto, the homeplace of the “Conjuração Mineira”, an early separatist movement that sought to create an independent republic in our province of Minas Gerais. We encourage attendees to reflect on Yeats’s participation in separatist movements in Ireland, just as the various oaths and swearing into other cultural, parapolitical and even occultist organisations, bearing in mind that “Conjuring” is also doing magic, something in which Yeats was similarly very engaged. 📅December 09, 2024 (Monday) 🕤2pm-4pm 💻Youtube Channel
