Includes a race on all nine tracks available in Hot Pursuit mode, played on expert skill level. Hot Pursuit is a cop chase mode, where you have a single race against one opponent (always Ice), with the law trying to take you down. I play through them in forwards and backwards directions, so there are eighteen races here. The first race is actually my first ever time playing the game, all the other races were done after playing through tournament and knockout modes. The first time I played this, the default amount of laps was four, but for some reason it was two after finishing the other modes (I'm pretty sure I never switched it). I stayed with the default all the way through, so the first race is four laps and the rest are two. The police make these races tough, they'll do everything they can to stop you, and get more aggressive towards the end of a race. There's also regular traffic, to get in your way and slow you down. If your speed drops below a certain amount (around 40 mph) when there's a cop in the vicinity, they'll bust you, and you'll get warned, fined or arrested. Warnings are rare and only given in the early part of a race, they're just a caution and won't count against you. Fines are the most common penalty, they're like strikes, if your total amount of fines equals the amount of laps you're racing, the next time you get busted you'll be arrested. Getting arrested disqualifies you from the race. That means I'm only allowed four fines in the first race, and two in all the rest. Near the end of a race, the police will sometimes arrest you, even if you haven't picked up any fines, getting caught by a spike trap is also an instant arrest. I use four different cars for this, but mainly the El Niño, the best car in the game, unlocked by winning expert knockout. Speed is fairly important in these races for outrunning the cops, in fact the slowest cars aren't even available in Hot Pursuit mode. You can choose Ice's car too, so I always made sure it was a close match to mine or identical, though they can't drive the El Niño, that's a player privilege only. Sometimes Ice will get arrested, which means you just have to finish the race to win. I decided not to do the mirrored tracks as they don't really show anything new and are raced exactly the same, just with everything flipped. The backward tracks, however, are raced quite differently and show unique views of the scenery, so they are definitely worth including. For the backwards Rocky Pass race I switch to night driving, as the night-time mountain atmosphere is cool, listen out for the owls. Winning these races doesn't unlock anything, they are just for fun, though the completion times still count for the top ten. 00:00:00 - Hometown 00:10:10 - Redrock Ridge 00:16:32 - Atlantica 00:22:27 - Rocky Pass 00:29:46 - Country Woods 00:36:21 - Lost Canyons 00:43:33 - Aquatica 00:50:45 - The Summit 00:58:53 - Empire City 01:04:39 - Hometown (Backwards) 01:09:01 - Redrock Ridge (Backwards) 01:15:35 - Atlantica (Backwards) 01:21:43 - Rocky Pass (Backwards) 01:29:10 - Country Woods (Backwards) 01:36:03 - Lost Canyons (Backwards) 01:43:14 - Aquatica (Backwards) 01:50:19 - The Summit (Backwards) 01:58:25 - Empire City (Backwards) Full playlist here • Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit - PS1 - Fu...
