Holiness is not self-help! The lives of saints are a testimony of suffering, deprivation of comfort, and material poverty, but of immense spiritual wealth. Therefore, Catholics can (but shouldn't) disregard this treasure of our tradition to read "Coffee with God the Father" by Junior Rostirola as a devotional work. First and foremost, the practice of the Catholic faith requires reading the complete Revelation. This book brings the Protestant version of the Bible, missing seven books. There's also a lack of theological depth in the reflections, which often boil down to commonplaces and redundant spiritual clichés. In this sense, motivational phrases like "living in abundance" and "overcoming physical obstacles through Jesus," with ambiguous interpretations, can cause frustration in anyone. And finally, the work doesn't address sacraments such as "Confession" and "Eucharist," which compose the path of sanctification proposed by the Holy Catholic Church.
