been doing a lot of research and watched about a hundred batches of geopolymer mixed and the ingredients. I don't have those ingredient's. This is about using what I have for free or very little cost to get. It's a silica based chemistry with aluminum. Aluminum silicate would be ideal but I'm not paying for it. So I think I found a hydraulic expanding mix.. This mix contains 59% seashell sand mix, 39% limestone shell mix, both unprocessed dirt I dug up, and trace elements of aluminum 5 micron powder, ferrous iron oxide powder, hardwood ash, and some hardwood charcoal particles. mixed well moist . then the silicate lye mix that was prepared a few days ago is mixed in for another long period. mixing and grinding the ingredients down incorporates the ingredients and gets the reactions started. Things on a molecular level need ,mixing, time, heat, and pressure. My ingredients were moist from the rain Thursday night. This extra water inside might be where the extra expansion and gas came from. I really need to get a mixer. I mixed all this by hand which gives me a feel for the material as they mix. The way the lye reacts and makes it all like putty and the gas it gives off. Like concrete or stucco kicking off in a room. ...The next day... I initially thought this was setting up after a couple hours but 15 hours later it is still doughy and soft. That doesn't mean this won't harden. Again the silicate crystals take time to form. The samples with corn starch were harder than the ones with no corn starch. Some good clay would definitely make a good binder. It needs that super fine particulate. I was hoping the lime based shell I have would be fine and have enough clay to work. I didn't use any garden lime or hydrated lime in this mix but I'm not trying to make lime based concrete. Sunday Oct 15, 2023 two days later... I think the massive amount of gas in this mix is from the aluminum powder reacting with the sodium Hydroxide producing Hydrogen. I think the aluminum needs to react the the SH before being mixed. That would break it down to oxides, and silicates and remove the hydrogen. So I might try that next.
