The depth of storytelling, the evolution of suit designs, and the mature themes that Kamen Rider explores make it clear why this franchise has been running for over 50 years. What struck me most was how different the approach is compared to Power Rangers. While Power Rangers focuses on teamwork and friendship, Kamen Rider often deals with more personal, internal struggles and moral complexity. The transformation sequences, or “henshin,” have this ritualistic quality that makes each one feel significant and powerful. The progression from the Showa era’s simpler storytelling to the Heisei era’s complex narratives and now the Reiwa era’s modern sensibilities shows a franchise that’s constantly evolving while staying true to its core identity. The suit designs are incredible, with each series bringing unique aesthetics that reflect the themes and tone of that particular show. This introduction made it clear that Kamen Rider isn’t just the “Japanese Power Rangers” - it’s its own unique entity with a rich history and storytelling tradition that deserves recognition.
