Jessica is an Australian-born orchestral conductor and also a synesthete who 'sees' colour in her mind's eye. Having taken to piano at her mother's knee, and learning music almost as a first language, Jessica went on to become an organ virtuoso. She trained first in Sydney, then in Paris, and performed in some of Europe's great cathedrals. Forced by injury to retire from her career as a soloist, Jessica re-trained as a conductor, making her debut at the BBC Proms. She's now among a growing cohort of women maestros taking the lead in what's long been a male-dominated field. Jessica is Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, and returns from London to Australia often. Her work across the UK, as well as in Europe and Asia has also allows Jessica to pursue her passion for butterflies all over the world.
