After wrapping up a friend’s Patreon camp, we figured finding dispersed camping near Sisters, Oregon would be simple… until we remembered it was Presidents Day weekend. What was supposed to be an easy overnight stop turned into packed forest roads, full campsites, and a whole lot of “okay… now what?” So we did what van life teaches you to do best — we took the back roads. Exploring through the Deschutes National Forest outside of Sisters, Oregon, Jason led us toward one of his favorite secret camping areas. Along the way, we spotted mule deer and elk in the wild, found an abandoned RV that he wanted to share with a friend and then he showed me a secret location I hadn't heard of before— Skylight Cave. Although Skylight Cave near Sisters is currently closed for seasonal bat protection, seeing it in person was still incredible. It’s one of the most unique lava tube caves in Oregon, known for dramatic beams of light during the summer months. We’ll definitely be back when it reopens. With Apollo and Ben along for the ride, what started as a frustrating search for a campsite turned into wildlife encounters, hidden gems, and the kind of spontaneous adventure that reminds me why I love van life in Oregon. Sometimes it’s not the plan… but it ends up being better than the plan. If you’re planning a Central Oregon road trip, looking for dispersed camping near Sisters, or curious about visiting Skylight Cave, I hope this episode gives you a little inspiration to explore beyond the main roads. – Beth 🐾 Featuring Apollo & Ben 📍 Central Oregon 00:00 Drone shots 01:26 Leaving the Patreon Camp 02:17 No camping spots 02:42 Secret Spot 04:28 Found some wildlife on the drive 08:37 Junk or Treasure? 10:15 Taking me to a secret location 10:50 This place is incredible! 12:59 Treat for the end of the day 14:25 Cone licker #VanLife #OregonVanLife #CentralOregon #SkylightCave #DispersedCamping 🙋🏼♀️ Let's Be FRIENDS! / mid.lifeadventurer / mid.lifeadventurer 💵 Support our ADVENTURES! I travel in my van named "Bertie" along with my cat, Apollo. My passion for the outdoors started in 2022. I purchased a van, worked with a company called Noovo to create a custom build that fits my lifestyle. I’ve gone from coast to coast and continue to enjoy exploring, connecting with myself in nature and sharing my adventures with others through my social media content. My goal is to inspire others to find peace and healing through faith, time in the outdoors and to discover their own adventures! I love nature and am all about finding new hikes and trails. God has made such a beautiful world- I love exploring it! This channel will be focused on sharing about real van life, traveling alone as a female and some of my exploring. I want to encourage everyone, that if I can do this, then so can you! #VanLife #FemaleVanLife #VanLifer #MidLifeAdventurer #TravelCat #OffTheGridLife
