This video covers the installation process of the Tri-Logic Phantom. There are a lot of ways you could install a Phantom incorrectly, and only one way to guarantee success. The Phantom was a board that came to existence for the Commodore community in-around 1987. It can be installed in a long-board 1541, and among other features, dramatically speeds up the drive. The drive access is accelerated by this device to such an extent that nothing was ever produced that provides faster loading with a 1541. Last year, I had the good fortune to be presented the opportunity to reverse engineer this board. As far as I understand, the board that I cloned is one of the last remaining examples of this piece of hardware. I intend on creating another video discussing the origin of the Phantom, and the process that I followed in reverse engineering the board. This video only covers the installation process. For those interested in a Phantom/JiffyDOS custom rom mentioned at the end of the video, they'd need to provide verifyable proof of purchase of JiffyDOS from Jim Brain's website ( https://store.go4retro.com/jiffydos-6... ) before such a ROM could be created.
