Tried to Follow on A Twisty Backroad .... Big Mistake

Following another car on a backroad seems simple… until the car ahead disappears. In this video I’m driving a VW Golf R on Virginia 620 while trying to stay with a Porsche Cayman ahead. On paper the Golf R should have the grip to keep up, but the reality of this road quickly changes the equation. Virginia 620 looked fantastic on the map, but once we arrived it turned out to be extremely narrow with rough pavement, faded markings, and almost no shoulder. Add dust on the surface and limited visibility through the corners, and the challenge of following another car becomes very real. As the Cayman begins to pull away and disappears through a cloud of dust, the drive becomes less about keeping up and more about making the right call for the conditions. This video explores the hidden risks of following another car on a tight backroad and why knowing when to back off can be just as important as knowing how to go fast.
