The Church honors the countless saints—known and unknown—who embraced fasting, prayer, watchfulness, and repentance. Their ascetic lives reveal the transformative power of grace and the path toward deification in Christ. The appointed Old Testament readings from Zechariah 8:7–17 and 8:19–23 proclaim hope and restoration.
