We asked staff at our Long Service Awards what they liked about most about working at the Trust. University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust held a special event on Friday, November 13, to celebrate 86 loyal colleagues who have clocked up an incredible 2,150 years of NHS service between them. In 1989 and 1990, when this group of dedicated staff started working in the NHS, Tim Berners-Lee had only just produced the proposal document for what became the World Wide Web, while Kylie and Jason were topping the charts with ‘Especially for You’, and cinema goers were watching 2015’s hover boards and self-tying shoes in Back to the Future Part 2, or laughing at Arnold Schwarzenegger in Kindergarten Cop. Chairman, Andy Meehan, and Chief Nursing Officer, Mark Radford, presented certificates and Debenhams vouchers to members of staff at the annual awards. Chief Workforce and Information Officer Karen Martin, who hosted the evening, said: “I am extremely proud of the staff in our hospitals, especially those who have dedicated so much of their working lives to caring for the people of Coventry and Warwickshire. “It was a privilege for me to recognise our long serving colleagues for their contribution, and an opportunity for the Trust to say thank you to those who have reached 25 years of NHS service.”
