Recently scientists have discovered a new fossil belonging to a new species of 4 legged whale that lived around 43 million years ago. Scientists have named it Phiomicetus anubis. Phiomicetus anubis had body length of 3 meters and body mass of roughly 600 kilograms. Phiomicetus anubis had strong jaws to catch prey and it was like a top predator of time. The fossil was found in Egypt's Fayum Depression, an area once covered by the sea completely. Whales first evolved around 50 million years ago and are going through an evolution since then. Ancestors of whales developed from deer-like mammals that lived on land for over 10 million years.
