Some may have complained about the story’s pacing, but I greatly enjoyed this slow-burn romance. Xiao Zhan delivers again another great performance (especially during those angst/crying scenes). This is my first time watching the female lead, but I like her and thought she was good in her role. The overall story felt solid and the chemistry between all characters was well-balanced. Not only did I enjoy the relationship of the main leads, but particularly Shi Ying and the High Priest. I could feel how deeply High Priest cared for Shi Ying, not just in a role as his master but at times as a father figure. The CGI, cinematography, and fighting scenes are so well done along with some great OST.
