We have two Colibri lighters here: a full Colibri Rally, and a Colibri Daytona that needs filling. You will need: • A tool to bleed the lighter, removing excess gas that may prevent filling • Quality butane, such as Colibri or Xikar Purofine premium butane. Premium butanes perform better at high altitudes and have a high purity level. The latter means that the butane won't potentially clog your lighter. The 3 ounce Colibri bottles we have here last a good long time, 10-15 refills each. [01:28] Step 1. Bleed The Lighter First, you'll need to bleed the lighter. The Xikar cutter I'm using has a lighter bleeding tool, but you don't need a purpose-made tool. You can use a sharp knife point, a pen; something like that. Note that if your lighter is nearly empty, the butane released will be entirely gaseous. On the other hand, if you try to bleed a still-full lighter, cold liquid butane will spray out. You'll see butane bubbling up, which means it's still quite full. [02:22] Step 2. Fill The Lighter The lighter is gravity fed, so it's very important to have the butane bottle going down into the lighter. Press down for a few seconds. This lighter took just over 5 seconds to fill. What you may notice afterwards is the lighter won't make a flame. This is normal right after filling, as the butane entering the lighter is very cold. Depending on the lighter, it takes between 5-20 minutes for the lighter to warm up enough to function. You can expedite this by holding it in your hand. You can also expand the flame gauge to test the flame a little sooner. REMEMBER to comment! What's the best butane you've used, and have you ever had issues with butane in lighters? Also, let us know what lighter you use, and why it works for you! Finally, suggest any cigar topic you'd like us to cover on Bespoke Unit!
