In celebration of Women’s History Month, we invite you to hear from four of our accomplished #alumni who will share their career journeys, challenges they’ve overcome, and how they’ve built success in their fields. Dr. Judith Gil '98 Dr. Gil is a highly dedicated clinical social work professional with over 25 years of experience in leadership, education, and mental health services. She earned a BA in Psychology from the City College of NY (CUNY). Additionally, she holds a Doctorate in Advanced Clinical Social Work (DSW) from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s in Social Work from Fordham University, showcasing her deep commitment to advancing the field. Currently serving as Deputy Director of Behavioral and Mental Health at Children’s Aid in NYC. Dr. Gil oversees the operations of community-based clinics, school programs, and foster care services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality behavioral health treatment. Emilie Rodriguez '14 Emilie Rodriguez is a Black traditional birth and postpartum doula and medical anthropologist. She founded Ashe Birthing Services, a team of BIPOC doulas serving over 400 families a year in NYC, and co-founded The Bridge Directory, a platform of perinatal providers and professionals of color creating a new standard of maternal health. They are on a mission to heal the disparities in healthcare from within by training institutions and providers, redefining expectations in care, and closing the access gap. As an active Bronxite and reproductive justice advocate, Emilie is deeply passionate about her community and Black maternal health. The Bridge engages in many strategic partnerships, but one to highlight is with Columbia University to create a Maternal Health Research Center of Excellence as part of a seven-year NIH grant, focusing on scalable multi-level strategies grounded in anti-racism and patient empowerment. Aisha Fuenzalida Butt '21 Aisha Fuenzalida Butt is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Anthropology at Cornell University. Her research examines the impacts of environmental protections and conservation efforts on local coastal communities in the Canary Islands through a lens of ecotourism and political ecology. Her work explores the relationships Canarians have with their environments through examinations of marine plastic and waste, how they experience and (re)define conservation, and how global models of ecotourism are managed and challenged by Indigenous and local knowledge. Allison Jennifer Cooke '17 Allison is a Community Outreach Coordinator for Union-Anson County Habitat for Humanity where she leads volunteer recruitment, creation of marketing materials, and engagement across North and South Carolina. Allison is also the Founder of CoExist Research and Consulting Firm, where she supports small to mid-sized businesses in enhancing marketing materials and launching new programs. Notable clients have included the Association of National Advertising and STEM-E Youth Professional Development Organization.
