At 263 kms it's 56 kms longer than if you stay on the Camino Frances from Ponferrada. The Camino Invierno crosses four regions or territories of unique character: the region of El Bierzo (in León), the region of Valdeorras (in Galicia, province of Ourense), the Ribeira Sacra area (comprising the banks of the Sil and Miño rivers, in the provinces of Ourense and Lugo), and the region of Deza (province of Pontevedra). The Camino Invierno is the only Jacobean route that at some point passes through all four Galician provinces , which is why some people describe as the most Galician of all the Caminos.
