This 7.9 km return track took just under 3 hours to complete, with an elevation gain of 488 metres — a relatively gentle climb that makes it perfect for families, casual hikers, and anyone looking for a peaceful walk through native bush. I’d rate the difficulty around 3/10, thanks to the wide, well-formed pathways. Along the way, you’ll pass through regenerating forest, spot native birdlife, and learn about the historic pā site that once stood proudly on the summit. At the top, you’ll be rewarded with views across the Waikato basin and a towering wooden lookout platform that offers 360-degree vistas on a clear day.
