BROILED SARDINES: A QUICKFIRE CHALLENGE

My hubby Chuck got excited when he spotted packages of frozen Portuguese sardines at Jewel. He had always wanted to duplicate the plate of sardines that we tried at The Fish Hopper during one of our visits in Monterey. So after thawing the bag of 7 sardines overnight, we figured we should have this for dinner going on a night out at the opera. Big thanks to our next-door neighbor Simone for giving us her subscription tickets as she couldn’t go. It was quite the quickfire challenge as Chuck took charge of cleaning the fish, stuffing it with lemon slices & sprigs of thyme then broiled them while I cooked the rice and laid salad greens on the plate. In 30 minutes, we managed to sit ourselves down, albeit inelegantly, and enjoyed a simple and healthy pre-show supper at home. #sardines #portuguesesardines #foodie #foodstagram #homecooking
