Truck accidents kill or injure over 110,000 people each year. Thats one person nearly every 13 minutes and the clock is always ticking! Will you or a member of your family be next? Fatigued driving is a factor in approximately 40% of all crashes involving big trucks. Truck drivers and trucking companies too often violate the law and the hours of service rules established by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations for greedy, profit driven motives, and establish an environment that permits or encourages fatigued driving. The longer the truckers drive, the more money they and the company make. Also, the longer the truckers drive, the more dangerous they become, and the more likely they are to cause an accident. Something has to be done to stop this wide spread path of death and destruction. The mission of the Association of Plaintiff Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America is to reduce the numbers of truck crashes, injuries and deaths that occur each year on our nations highways caused by unsafe or illegally operating interstate trucking companies. These grim statistics of the number of people killed and injured in truck accidents each year too often reflect illegal and criminally unsafe conduct that makes it unsafe for all persons who must share the roads with these dangerous semi-tractor trailers. It is clear that too often truck drivers and trucking companies break the law and violate the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Rules and Regulations.
