With the migration kicking into full swing for the 2025 duck hunting season, I packed up the truck and headed west to try chasing birds in a brand new area. The trip got off to a crazy start when I spotted a rare hybrid duck on a public land pond during my first scout day and made a stalk on it. It was undoubtably the most rare bird I've ever put my hands on, an absolute beauty of a Mallard x Gadwall hybrid. We spent the next day scouting as well and found a few potholes with lots of ducks using them but one stuck out from the rest. It was a little public pothole that was full of grass and holding over 500 ducks in it every time we checked it. We headed out there the next morning and had an awesome mixed bag duck hunt with a surprise visitor to the spread as well. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy!
