To read the entire story about the way of life on England's narrowboats, go to https://holeinthedonut.com/2013/06/21..., and if you enjoyed this video, please consider subscribing to my YouTube channel. Vessels known as narrowboats regularly cruise the 2,000+ miles of canals in England. With a width of 6.5 feet, two narrowboats are able to tie up side-by-side in the narrow locks that control the water level in the canals. Originally designed as work boats that carried cargo, today narrowboats are used for weekend pleasure cruises, and in some cases are live-aboard residences. The owners of these boats carry tools that allow for manual opening and closing of the lock gates, a time consuming and physically demanding process, as seen in the above video.
