Thanks to the Fox Fire Room and Sheila Rose Track recorded, engineered and mixed by Mark Rains at Station House Studio Mastered by Mikey Young The Drifter was written by Emily Rose Epstein A few words on the making of the video from Emily Rose: The video for 'The Drifter' came from an idea I had been kicking around for a while. I wanted to make a music video that was inspired visually and tonally by the movie Border Radio, a film by Allison Anders, Dean Lent and Kurt Voss, that really inspired me. I was trying to think of who to work on it with and immediately I knew I wanted to do it with my old friend from college, Matt Yoka, who was also born and raised in Los Angeles and has a deep affinity for the city and is also an incredible director among other things. We set out to make a video that captured a sort of romantic spirit of Los Angeles that I often sort of revisit or make up in my head in order to gain inspiration, the Los Angeles seen in films like Border Radio, the Exiles, etc. I was so honored that Chris D. from the Flesh Eaters and Divine Horsemen agreed to be in it because he was the main character in Border Radio and has been an incredible inspiration and muse for me. We imagined him as a barfly who had a life of promise, perhaps a wife and a family, and was now doing time on a barstool with the regulars. Perhaps he is even the older version of his character in Border Radio, a sort of reckless, brilliant, punk on the run. We cast artists Matt Momchilov and Jason Michael to be a couple in the bar who also have an undefined story but sort of possess a nonchalance, a feeling of intimacy that could drift away at any time. The film was shot, edited and directed by Matt Yoka and was filmed exclusively in the San Fernando Valley.
