Fans, colleagues mourn Mogale Marubini `Ruby' Mogale (21) before she passed away with colleague and best friend Bonnie Mbuli (22) at a function By SONIA MOTAUNG THE sudden death of talented actress Marubini Mogale of the popular e-tv soapie Backstage has left her fans and colleagues in shock. Mogale, who was known by the public as the kind and principled Irene in Backstage, was killed in a car accident on New Year's day while travelling to Cape Town with her sister and and boyfriend Clint Brink, who acted alongside her in Backstage. Mogale portrayed a person who voiced her opinions and stayed true to her values without being arrogant. This year her role would have become even bigger as she was chosen as Loyiso Bala's love interest. The 21-year-old will be laid to rest this morning at the Pietersburg cemetery after two services had been held in her honour. The first service will be held at the Lutheran church in Voortrekker street at 7 am followed by another at the Pietersburg Amateur Wrestling Club. Hest Khumalo of Mofolo South says he was very angry when he heard about the death because he thought someone was playing a cruel joke on him. ``I liked her, she was beautiful and very nice.'' Another fan, Mpho Mnisi of Meadowlands, says Mogale's death is similar to that of Aaliyah, the American singer who died in an aeroplane crash a couple of months ago. ``She was young and the main character in Backstage and I do not think the producers will find someone with her talent to replace her,'' she said. Shane Maja, SABC 2 Mamepe producer who used to work with her on Backstage, said he is at a loss for words and can still not believe she is dead. ``She was a special soul and I am glad I had the opportunity to have worked with he. One thing I will always remember is her innocence.'' He said he is still in shock because Mogale had massive talent that saw her as a youngster being nominated for Best Actress in the Duku Duku Awards alongside the likes of Pamela Nomvete. The other thing he appreciated was her command of their language Sepedi. Grace Mahlaba, her Backstage mother, said any mother would be able to identify with the pain of losing a child to some extent, but Mogale's own mom is the person who would suffer the most. ``Ruby was a beautiful person inside and outside. She was humble without even being aware of it. She was an angel, sweet and kind and made everyone happy.'' Mahlaba said they were close to each other because when they arrived in Cape Town they did not have relatives and turned to each other for company.
