My Iron Infusion Experience For Ferritin Deficiency! 💉

Recently I had 2 iron infusions for my ferritin deficiency/iron deficiency anemia. My hemoglobin levels were actually NORMAL (thought they are low sometimes), but my ferritin level has been low for many years despite taking iron supplements. Unfortunately, doctors often miss low ferritin because the lab ranges tend to be around 12-200+, when it is actually recommended that ferritin levels in the presence of chronic illness/fatigue should be above 50 or even above 75! (Recommended by the Mayo Clinic as well as my sleep doctor) Over the years, my ferritin levels have ranged from about 6-25, which is much too low. I am optimistic that these infusions will help! I hope that more doctors will start recognizing low ferritin, as it can cause significant symptoms and often is a relatively easy fix! I was given Injectafer (inferric carboxymaltose) along with IV saline and zofran. There are different brands of IV iron! Have you had an iron infusion?
