Ford Expedition MAX Platinum: The Loooooong One

Let’s test drive and review the 2025 Ford Expedition MAX Platinum! And thanks to ‪@homefieldapparel‬ for sponsoring this video! The Ford Expedition arrived as a full-size SUV in the late 1990s with a thing we don’t see too often these days: a V8 engine! It also had a body-on-frame truck platform and a four-speed automatic transmission. The Expedition has been through FIVE generations since its debut, and this is the fifth. Over the years, there was even an Eddie Bauer special edition. (Long-term, that special edition was probably a really good play, because people still google it frequently.) The fifth-gen debuted for the 2025 model year, and a big party trick it came with was the split rear tailgate that Ford said could support 500 pounds. This is a tailgating MACHINE, baby. And if taking a boat to the lake is more your thing, Ford advertises the Expedition’s max towing capacity as 9,600 pounds. This thing is a feather-light 6,000 pounds, so it can technically tow itself. The 2025 Expedition comes in a bunch of flavors. There’s the $62,000 Active base-model trim; the $75,000 Platinum with more comfort and convenience features; the $81,000 Tremor off-road and overland trim, which gets you things like rock-crawl mode and one-pedal driving; and the $84,000 King Ranch, which is what you buy if your husband coaches high-school football in Texas and your family has a bunch of oil money.  Ford also has two versions of most of the Expeditions: a regular and a Max, which extends the length of the vehicle by about a foot to expand cargo space if you felt that was too limited on the already-huge regular model. I’m sure you’ll love this when you’re packing the SUV with luggage, but your eyes will get really wide when it’s time to park it. The 2025 Ford Expedition in this video has a 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 EcoBoost engine, which makes 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. This is known as the “high output” Expedition engine, and there’s a standard version with a lowered output figure of 400 horsepower. That power goes through a 10-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels, because this is a 4x4, baby! This Expedition gets 18 mpg combined, and but you’ll get high mileage per trip from the fuel tank because it’s 28 gallons. This Ford Expedition Max Platinum has a base price of $77,430 USD. It has a $6,500 “stealth performance package” on it with 22-inch painted wheels, a whole lot of black accents, and some extra technology features. After options and fees, the total price of this Expedition Max is $85,970 . This is a big American-brand truck, and it’s priced like one.
