Added to that list for photographer Gavin Hoey is often atmospheric smoke. But when you look a little closer you’ll soon discover that not all fog fluids are equal. In this video, Gavin passes on his top tips for working with a fog machine on location. After he covers the basics such as background and lighting, Gavin takes you on a journey by repeating the same shoot with three very different types of smoke effect fluid. Starting with a light haze, Gavin moves on to heavy, textured smoke and finally settles on the incredibly versatile fast dissipating fog fluid.
