Canoeing: 8 Year Old Paddling Solo on a Journey

Maya Rose canoeing the length of Llyn Tegid (Bala), Snowdonia I been waiting for a while but eventually the right conditions arrived: warm, gentle breeze from the south west and the right company. My little Maya Rose was to solo paddle a canoe from one end of Llyn Tegid (Bala) to the other. We used to a bit of tracking to get her around the head of the lake to where what upper portion of the Afon Dyfrdwy (Dee) enters. That gave a better starting point for our run down to Bala. Eventually we will get the right size boat for her but with the assistance of the breeze it was a great adventure. She is so proud of herself. Maya is eight years old.
