"We can live with it, because we're used to it," says one restaurant worker, but no other Boston neighborhood feels the heat like Chinatown — where temperatures are up to 6°F hotter than the rest of the city. Yet Chinatown's strong sense of community is a source of strength when it comes to bringing people together to understand the risks of extreme heat. Through the Chinatown Heat Action Plan, community organizations are sharing heat alerts in local languages through networks residents use from WeChat to WhatsApp, and restaurants are taking action to keep employees and customers cool.
