In a huge setback to the students who had challenged the ban on wearing hijab in Karnataka institutions, the Karnataka HC has ruled that hijab does not form a part of the essential religious practice in Islam. The bench also ruled that restriction on the wearing of uniforms is a reasonable restriction and that the students cannot object to the same.
