29 March 2017, Bengaluru - Dharmavaram Line, KA The new-year festival of Ugadi on 29 March brought me an unexpected surprise. On my long solo ride to Gauribidanur in the sweltering summer heat, I caught loads of diesel action on a line that had recently seen increasing number of electric traction. And this was only during afternoon to late evening. Every single freight train save for one, had diesel locos hauling it. This was a true treat to a diesel fan, even though the heat was unbearable - topping out at 42 degrees that day.
