Nobody is putting my back to the wall and telling me that I have to buy the insurance. Are we looking for a good top-of-the-line vision insurance company, is it voluntary from the individual corporate member? What is it they're asking me here, "Is it voluntary?" Daniel: More and more these days we are seeing voluntary programs. Basically it's who pays. Is the employee paying and electing to sign up on their own? If they're paying for it, you can't force them to sign up. If a company is paying for it, typically everyone is signed up. Sometimes it's tied to medical, if you get the medical benefits then you get the vision, the dental, and so on. Voluntary is typically asking who is paying. Do I have to pay for it myself, do I have the option to sign up? If there are options, it's voluntary. Maybe a company pays 50% and you pay 50%. Again, the company can't force you to pay 50%, at that point it's voluntary. Charlie: So it's voluntary whether or not I sign up. Daniel: Correct. Charlie: My being the Head of HR, I can select a plan. We want to make sure that a terrific vision insurance company allows me to have voluntary plans. Daniel: Right. Again, if you're focused on just cost, there could be a cheap premium, but maybe there are high co-pays, or maybe at the end when they go to pay the doctor there's a lot of out of pocket. Costs be deceiving on a voluntary plan especially. Charlie: Okay. - - - - You know you need great vision and eye care is vital.
