This video captures days three and four of our journey. We begin the morning slowly in our room. Emma enjoys some apple slices, while I make a roast beef sandwich and café au lait. Later, we take a taxi to Lake Ashi, walk along the lakeside, and board the pirate ship to Motohakone. Emma’s first time on a boat. We kept her on a leash and held her in our arms. She quietly watched the moving scenery, curious and calm. It was a windy day, so we take a short walk in Motohakone before returning to the hotel by boat. Emma falls fast asleep, and I enjoy a quiet dinner. On our final morning, Emma wakes up full of energy and runs freely at the dog run. We check out, saying we’ll surely come back someday. After taking a bus to Hakone-Yumoto, we enjoy a short walk along the river before heading home. Once home, Emma quickly curls up and sleeps peacefully. About traveling with Emma 🐾 Emma travels in a small backpack on trains and buses. In Japan, this is a common and accepted way to travel with small dogs, especially on public transportation like the Shinkansen. During the trip, Emma stays close to me at all times, and we take frequent breaks so she can relax and move at her own pace. This was Emma’s first time on a boat. She wore her leash, and I held her in my arms while we stepped outside on deck. She quietly watched the passing scenery, looking curious but calm, enjoying the wind and the slow movement of the lake. We choose places where dogs are welcome, move gently, and prioritize her comfort over schedules. This journey wasn’t about rushing, but about sharing a peaceful rhythm together.
